About the Decision Education Research Collaborative

The Decision Education Research Collaborative brings together an interdisciplinary group of researchers with a shared interest in Decision Education. Research Collaborative participants help advance the field of Decision Education by engaging in discussions about research findings, sharing knowledge and resources, and generating new insights about decision-making in childhood and adolescence.

Research Collaborative participants receive a $5,000 stipend, along with the opportunity to apply for small grants to fund independent research projects and experiments in Decision Education.

The application for the 2023-2024 Decision Education Research Collaborative has closed.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Decision Education Research Collaborative, you must:

  • Have earned a Ph.D.
  • Be actively involved in a primary research project (but do not need to be the principal investigator).

The Research Collaborative is primarily intended for early to mid-career researchers, but all researchers with a strong interest in Decision Education are encouraged to apply.

Application Process

  • Interested researchers should complete the application form by August 11, 2023.
  • The Alliance will review applications and notify all applicants no later than September 1, 2023.
  • The first synchronous meeting of the Research Collaborative will take place on September 22, 2023.

Goals of the Research Collaborative

The Research Collaborative aims to:

  • Engage interdisciplinary researchers in thoughtful discussion about findings and concepts in Decision Education.
  • Identify barriers to research efforts in Decision Education and generate potential solutions and recommendations.
  • Foster ongoing collaboration among researchers with shared interests.
  • Inspire future research on improving decision-making for children and adolescents.

Participants of the Research Collaborative will

  • Receive a $5,000 stipend paid over the course of a year.
  • Join and participate in an online community to share resources.
  • Read and engage with the first edition of the Decision Education Research Agenda.
  • Meet remotely (via Zoom) nine times over the course of a year on select Fridays from 1-3pm ET (see calendar of meeting dates here).
  • Commit to three additional hours per month of asynchronous work, including reading and synthesizing Decision Education content and sharing resources with other participants.
  • Collaborate on a culminating white paper on a topic in Decision Education.
