Mario Fernandez

Community and Partnerships Manager

Mario Fernandez serves as a Community and Partnerships Manager developing grassroots leadership and community collaboration.

Before joining the Alliance, Mario worked as the Labor Representative for a nurses union, and was heavily involved in the labor movement for almost 10 years, having also organized and represented home care and retail workers in their industries and workplaces.

Mario has also served as a school board trustee and currently serves on his local city council to showcase the substance and value of involvement in local communities.

Mario earned a B.A. at San Francisco State University, creating his own major through the Special Major program that focused on political psychology with an emphasis on social dynamics, group processes, social movement building, voting behavior and decision-making.

Once away from the confines of responsibility, Mario enjoys cycling, hiking, and intense conversations about current events. In addition, he enjoys live theater, music, and travel.
