As a former lawyer who spent his career advising clients on managing legal and business risks, I firmly believe it is never too early to teach — and learn — the skill of making decisions amidst risk and uncertainty.
Richard Hsu is a retired lawyer and the host and producer of a two-time award-winning podcast, Hsu Untied, where he has interviewed billionaire entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, best-selling authors, TED speakers, professional athletes, Olympic medalists, Emmy Award winners, and other celebrities. Until 2017, he was a Partner at the international law firm of Shearman & Sterling, where he was the Global Head of Intellectual Property and Co-Chair of the Data and Privacy Protection Practice.
He is currently a Board Member at the Kernochan Center for Law, Media & the Art of Columbia Law School, an Advisory Board Member of The Leakey Foundation and a Board Member of Silicon Genesis Corp. He is also a published author and previously served as the former General Counsel at Cyrano Sciences, a venture-backed company founded by Caltech Nobel Laureate Robert Grubbs to commercialize an electronic nose. Richard holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School.
