Eboney McKinney

Director K–12 Mathematics and Educational Technology Standards; Arizona Department of Education

“Decision Education is especially important in mathematics because it teaches students to think critically, evaluate evidence, and make reasoned choices—skills essential to problem-solving. By learning how to weigh options, analyze patterns, and consider consequences, students strengthen both their mathematical reasoning and their overall judgment."

Eboney McKinney serves as the Director of K–12 Mathematics and Educational Technology Standards at the Arizona Department of Education and is the President of the Association of State Supervisors of Mathematics. She began her career in the Sierra Vista Unified School District, where she worked as an elementary teacher, instructional coach, and education advocate.

Over the course of her career, she has held several leadership roles, including President of her local association, Region 12 Director for the Arizona Education Association, and Southern Vice President for the Arizona Association of Teachers of Mathematics.

Eboney is an experienced presenter at local, state, and national conferences and an active member of numerous professional organizations, including AML, NCSM, ASSM, BBA, TODOS, AATM, and NCTM. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Prescott College and an M.A. in Mathematics Teaching, along with a Professional Development and Coaching certificate, from Mount Holyoke College.

She is currently completing her doctoral dissertation in Organizational Development and Leadership at the University of Arizona Global Campus.
