Decision Education Learning Standards Crosswalks

Exploring how Decision Education integrates into existing curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

As part of our work to bring Decision Education to classrooms across the country, we examined how the Decision Education K-12 Learning Standards align with other K-12 learning standards in core content areas and media literacy. The resulting crosswalks identify significant alignment and illustrate how Decision Education can be integrated into existing curriculum, instruction, and assessment based on their nationwide usage and grade level alignment.

The crosswalks emphasize transferable skills, such as critical thinking, problem solving, and evidence-based reasoning.

How to Use the Decision Education Learning Standard Crosswalks

We encourage anybody interested in learning about how Decision Education can be integrated into subjects across grade levels to take a deeper dive into our crosswalks. In particular, classroom educators, state and district education leaders, and curriculum developers may find the charts on the following web pages useful.

Each crosswalk is divided into two categories of alignment:

  • Closely Correlated: Standards highlighted in green on the crosswalks are highly connected and easily integrated into each content area. In many cases, the language of the DE standard reflects key terms and concepts from the content standard.
  • Related: Standards highlighted in yellow are moderately aligned and present opportunities to integrate DE concepts and skills into content area instruction, classroom discussions, and student tasks.

As you dive into the crosswalks, please note: developing crosswalks for academic learning standards is a subjective process. These crosswalks are not intended as an all-inclusive list, but as a launchpad for further exploration and identification of opportunities for integrating Decision Education into today’s classrooms.
