Every day, our children make thousands of decisions on their own

We can either hope they make better decisions, or we can teach them how.

Our mission

Improve lives by empowering students with essential skills and dispositions for making better decisions.

We are racing to achieve our mission by raising awareness and increasing demand because our students need Decision Education now.

Our vision

Ensure that Decision Education is part of every student’s learning experience.

We need to succeed because escalating evidence shows that children are struggling and that decision-making skills matter.

What is Decision Education?

Decision Education (DE) is the teaching and learning of skillful judgment formation and decision-making.

Applied across K-12, Decision Education builds in students a set of competencies to support more accurate judgments and more skillful decisions, whether as individuals or as part of a group.

Empowering students with these skills is not just an opportunity, it is an obligation and an imperative. The need for these skills is growing, and our students are clearly struggling.

We work with educators to bring Decision Education to the classroom

Decision Education K-12 Learning Standards

We are proud to publish the first edition of the Decision Education K-12 Learning Standards. Written by educators and researchers, they represent the movement’s first best effort to provide a framework for what K-12 students should know and be able to do, with respect to learning how to be effective decision makers.

Decision Education Teacher Fellowship

Each year, the Alliance invites teachers from across the country—all schools, grades, and subject areas—to apply for a Decision Education Teacher Fellowship that enables them to work collaboratively as part of a cohort, and independently to build skills that will shape their students’ lives.
